Patricia A. Garcia has been an owner/principal of a law practice in New Orleans since February 1990. Formerly Holden & Garcia, the Law Offices of Patricia A. Garcia specializes in estate planning and successions, as well as small business planning. She is also affiliated with Crescent Title, assisting with real estate closings in the New Orleans area. She is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the National Association of Women Lawyers.

In addition to her private law practice, she has served as a consultant to the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Substance Abuse and the ABA Office of Justice Initiatives. She has also done consultant work for the Welfare to Work Partnership, the Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse of Greater New Orleans, and the New Orleans Substance Abuse Prevention Project. Prior to those undertakings, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC and clerked for two judges of the federal district court in New Orleans.

Patti was President of the New Orleans Bar Association in 1992-93, the first woman to serve in that capacity, and chaired the NOBA's "It's the Law" Television Show Committee for more than ten years. She is also involved in other civic activities, serving as Co-Chair of the NO/AIDS Task Force, the largest AIDS service organization in Louisiana; a member of the Board of Directors of Cancer Crusaders; the St. Pius X chapter of the St. Vincent dePaul Society; the Advisory Board of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mount Carmel and President of Carmelite Ministries.

Patti was a founding member of the Louisiana Center for Law & Civic Education, and served as President in 1994-95. She served on the Loyola Law School Visiting Committee and the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Legal Assistance Corporation. Her extensive work with the American Bar Association has included serving as a representative to the House of Delegates, a member of the Standing Committee on Gavel Awards, the Standing Committee on Professional Utilization and Career Development, the General Practice Section, the Host Committee for the Annual Meeting in New Orleans, the Young Lawyers Division, and the Law Student Division.

Ms. Garcia is a 1980 graduate of Loyola University School of Law and received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans. She is a native of New Orleans.
